HUI MĀORI COLLECTIVE

The HUI Māori Collective of indigenous producers has been formed in the spirit of support and kinship, to provide a wide offering of trusted premium products to consumers.

The members of the HUI collective all hold a special connection with their land as indigenous guardians and hold a long term view towards the future.

OUR
NAME AND BRAND

The name HUI was jointly chosen as a word common to both cultures representing a coming together, meeting and sharing.

The centrepiece of the logo, the ‘U’ in the word ‘HUI’ represents a ‘rourou’ or traditional woven food-basket. The rouroru represents the coming together of Māori producers to fill the basket with offerings to share with consumers.

The concept draws on an ancient Māori proverb; “Nāku te rourorou, nāu te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi”, which translates as “with your food-basket, and my food-basket, the people will be well”.

OUR PRODUCT RANGE

HONEY

Mānuka Honey is a product unique to New Zealand.

Mānuka is the Māori name given to the native Tii Tree (Leptospermum scopariam).

Long before modern science investigated the unique properties of Mānuka honey produced from the nectar of the Mānuka flower, the health benefits of Mānuka were known to Māori with the leaves and oil used for traditional healing purposes.

To protect premium Mānuka honey brands, the New Zealand Government’s Ministry for Primary Industries developed stringent testing standards to ensure that products labelled as Mānuka honey are genuine and true to label.

You can be certain when you buy Mānuka Honey from the HUI Māori Collective you are buying an indigenous product from New Zealand’s indigenous people that can be traced back to it’s origin.

OUR PRODUCT

WINE

As an isolated, cool-climate island nation, New Zealand enjoys an undeniable advantage when it comes to producing distinctive, ultra-high-quality wines.

Mild, sunny summers and marked differences between day and night temperatures in many regions slow the ripening of the grapes and allow them to develop pure, intense varietal flavours. This is the foundation of New Zealand wines’ elegance and power, and helps explain their famed balance, structure and food friendliness.

The HUI Māori collective wines come from a number of key wine-growing regions.

It’s the unwavering commitment to quality over quantity that has won New Zealand its reputation as a premium producer.

The purity of flavour you encounter in New Zealand wine owes much to the industry’s focus on protecting the environment in which the fruit is grown. The HUI Māori Collective take this responsibility seriously in line with the Māori cultural value of environmental guardianship called kaitiakitanga.
